A fine day to come racing where we celebrate the triple Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning legend Best Mate after whom the Beginners’ Chase is named.
It’s the place to spot future stars at this celebrated fixture. Yanworth was the comfortable winner of last year’s renewal. The Alan King-trained gelding added Cheltenham’s BetBright Dipper Novices’ Chase to his haul last season before finishing a very respectable sixth in The Festival’s Sun Bets Stayers Hurdle. 2017’s meeting drew a plethora of fine horses, including the Anthony Honeyball-trained Acey Milan who was second in the bumper and then racked up wins at Wincanton, Cheltenham and Newbury before finishing fourth in the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at The Festival.
If watching the best of the best is your thing, make it a date and come to Best Mate Beginners’ Chase Day.
Under 18's entry is free of charge, when attending with a full paying adult.
