Ladies Night is a highlight of the social calendar and a chance to really dress to impress as you enjoy your evening of racing. We’ll be handing out our fabulous goody bags provided by Hoopers Department Stores again to the first 200 ladies through the gate.
Be sure to wear your finest outfits for a chance of winning our Best Dressed Lady and Best Dressed Gentleman competitions, judged this year by Becky Sheaves and Kathryn Clark-McLeod from the Western Morning News’ fantastic West Magazine, and Susan Green from Equine Hour.
Prizes for the best dressed lady include one midweek night’s stay at South Sands boutique hotel in Salcombe, including dinner, bed and breakfast for two and a fabulous Gin school experience for two to share at the Salcombe Distilling Co. (the home of Salcombe Gin) including developing and distilling your own 70cl bottle of gin (Terms and Conditions - the prize is to be taken between Oct 1 and December 1 2017, excluding school holidays. Subject to availability. These terms are applicable to both South Sands and Salcombe Gin and not shared).
There is also a voucher for a dress from Henry Hunt, a Somerset-based company which specialises in high quality, stylish and chic women’s wear.
Second best dressed lady will win a pair of hand-crafted wellies from Salcombe-based Rudds Wellies, the perfect boots for riding, walking and spending time in the countryside. We think you’ll want to live in these wonderful wellies!
Ladies’ night is cause for further celebration with the crowning of the winner of our Exeter Racecourse intermediate series, the culmination of nine qualifying races that have taken place across the Devon and Cornwall Area. To conclude the evening there will be live music of The New Heroes to dance and sing along to.
The first race is off at 5.30pm and a free bus leaves Exeter St David’s at 4:05pm and the Bus & Coach Station at 4:20pm, returning half an hour after the last race.
Haldon Premier badge holders have access to all public areas, including the Haldon Stand, with the Denman Room serving a light lunch and full range of drinks and the Best Mate Bar next door. Upstairs, racing may be enjoyed in warmth and comfort from the Iddesleigh Gallery, which offers a superb panoramic view of the track.
Grandstand and Paddock badge holders have access to all public areas other than the Haldon Stand. The AP and Martin Pipe Bars offer fully licensed bar facilities and light snacks, whilst there is a burger van at the rear of the stands.
